Students Raise £2,850 to Fund Life‑Changing Water Well in Chad

Over the past year, our Sixth Formers and Year 11 students have worked with incredible dedication to raise £2,850—enough to fund the construction of a deep water well in Boktchoro, Golonga, a district in Chad where the community currently has no access to clean water.

Working in partnership with the charity Time to Help, our students have supported a project that will transform daily life for the village. At present, families rely on a contaminated water hole, which often leads to serious illnesses such as typhoid and tuberculosis. The nearest major city, Ndjamena, is a 7.5‑hour drive away, making access to clean water extremely difficult. The photographs shown highlight both the people of Boktchoro and the unsafe water source they currently depend on.

Thanks to the generosity of Highams Park students and the outstanding organisation, marketing, and baking efforts of our Year 11 and Year 12 students—the village will soon receive a deep water well providing safe, clean water for the next 50 years, benefitting around 500 people.

This achievement is a powerful reminder of what compassion, teamwork, and determination can accomplish. A huge well done to all students involved!
