Welcome to Highams Park School, a mixed 11-18 comprehensive school that serves its local community, with over 1600 students on roll, comprising of 240 students in each year group from Years 7 - 11, and approximately 350 students in our Sixth Form. The legal status of the school is a Single Academy Trust, an independent state funded school.

Our school motto of “Success through our Endeavours” coupled with our core behaviours of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience sum up the importance of the development of students' character alongside our role of delivering academic excellence. A strong relationship between students, their parents/carers, and the school is vital in ensuring students fulfil their potential. Our hope is that students who join Highams Park School in Year 7 are at the start of a seven-year journey, remaining with us until the end of Year 13, when they will progress onto the next phase of their life and enter employment, or continue their studies at University.

Hot Weather This Week - Early Closure

For the duration of this week students are allowed, and encouraged, to come into school in their PE kit.

Please can I request that parents/carers ensure their child brings a refillable water bottle to school so they can stay hydrated throughout the day, and that children bring a hat with them to school so they can wear it when they are outside.

I can confirm that the school will close after Period 4, at 1:25pm, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday break-time will be extended by ten minutes in order to ensure that children who receive Free School Meals are able to eat, and all students will be able to access water which will be given out in the canteen.

Year 10 and Year 12 examinations originally scheduled to take place in the afternoon will be rearranged.

Any students in the Reintegration Room will leave school at 1:45pm, and the Level 3 Detention will run as normal from 1:25pm to 2:25pm.

At present we still anticipate Sports Day going ahead on Friday, but we will need to continue to monitor the weather forecast carefully.

Best wishes,

Nigel Armsby
