Year 9 Employability Day

This week, our Year 9 students took part in their first Employability Day, giving them an exciting opportunity to start thinking about their future, develop key employability skills and explore the different pathways available to them.

Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to hear from a range of industry experts and take part in a variety of interactive workshops. These included CV workshops, personal statement workshops and interview skills sessions, helping them to understand the skills and qualities that employers and further education providers look for.

During Period 4, students attended an assembly led by Ms Kelly and Mr McDonnell, where they were introduced to the importance of their upcoming options choices. The assembly encouraged students to start thinking about their interests, strengths and future aspirations, while also highlighting the different factors they should consider when making their options choices.

Students also completed a reflection activity, giving them the opportunity to consider what they had learned, identify their strengths and think about how their skills and interests could link to their future aspirations.

A huge thank you to all of the industry experts who gave their time to support our students, as well as Ms Kelly and Mr McDonnell, the Year 9 team and all of the teachers who helped make the day possible. We would also like to thank the Careers Team for organising and supporting the programme.

Most importantly, well done to our Year 9 students for their enthusiasm and engagement throughout the day. We hope this is the beginning of many opportunities for them to explore their interests, develop their skills and feel confident about their future choices.
