Music Instrument Lessons

We encourage students who already learn a musical instrument to continue doing so at Highams Park School, as well as introducing beginners. We currently offer lessons in:

• Saxophone
• Flute
• Clarinet
• Guitar
• Piano
• Violin
• Drums
• Singing

Lesson information and cost

Lessons take place during the school day with students being withdrawn from lessons for 20 or 30 minutes depending on their level. Timetables change weekly so student do not always miss the same lesson. We ask for a contribution toward the cost of these lessons as follows:

There are 30 lessons per year spread out over three terms. Each term is paid for in advance. Some instruments and singing are very popular and there may be a waiting list. Payment is seen as a commitment to lessons for a whole term.

We also have a limited stock of instruments available for hire (not guitars) at the following cost per term;

The positive impact music has on all our lives is hugely precious and the opportunity for our students to learn an instrument with expert teachers, and the consequent benefits this gives them culturally, academically and socially cannot be underestimated. Studies show that learning an instrument improves memory, concentration and fine motor skills. Playing music fosters self expression, relieves stress and builds self confidence.

We very much want students to continue music tuition from their primary school. Priority is given to those student who are already learning an instrument but we hope that eventually we are able to accommodate everyone who is serious about taking up a new and rewarding skill.
