Battle of the Books 2025

Monday 7 July saw the Dance Studio at Highams Park School transformed into a literary battleground, as students from Years 7 to 9 faced off against a team of staff in the school’s second annual Battle of the Books.

Armed with knowledge of four set texts—Treasure Island, The Hate U Give, Armistice Runner, and The Giver—students formed their own mixed-year teams and went head-to-head in a fast-paced quiz that tested not just memory, but teamwork, strategy, and nerves under pressure.

Team names like The Book Giants, The Dusty Pages, The Ink Society, The Booked Solid Quartet and, eventual champions, The Page Turners brought personality and flair to the competition. The name that drew the most laughter was also the most creative – The Apocalyptic Seagulls of HPS.  The staff team, meanwhile, brought confidence, experience—and a healthy dose of competitive spirit.
